There may be fewer entries than in past years for the 126th running of the Velka Pardubicka with Česká pojišťovna, but they include plenty of interesting horses.

The Board of Dostihový spolek a.s., organisers of events at Pardubice racecourse, today confirms that Martin Korba has been appointed to the post of manager of the Association (Dostihový spolek a.s.). The appointment has been made on the recommendation of the selection committee, which chose from among several candidates.
Eight months before the runners for this year’s 126th Velka Pardubicka with Česká pojišťovna go to the start, tickets came on sale for the highpoint of this year’s Czech steeplechasing season. Ticket sales, for seats and for entry to the racecourse without a seat, began on February 1st, 2016. There is an interesting discount on tickets bought early in the year for entry without a seat.
On January 28th, 2016, The Discipinary Committee of the Jockey Club of the Czech Republic announced the disqualification of Nikas, first past the post in the 125th running of the Velka Pardubicka. Banned substances had been found in the body fluids of the 10-year-old gelding, which had been prepared for the race by trainer Stanislav Popelka. The committee’s decision changes the placings for the Velka Pardubicka. First place now goes to Ribelino, a 7-y-o running in the race for the first time, and to his jockey Pavel Kašný.
