How to get there
From Prague Ruzyne airport
Flights arrive at Prague Ruzyne airport from a considerable number of airports in Britain, Ireland and continental Europe. This is a well-equipped, modern airport. Flights from Schengen countries arrive at Terminal 2. Other flights arrive at Terminal 1. Prague Ruzyne airport is 12 km west of the city, and Pardubice is 100 km east of Prague.
By public transport - the recommended way
Public transport, both in Prague and in Pardubice, is very good - and also inexpensive.
To use Prague public transport, first buy a 26-crown ticket at the public transport booth in the airport foyer, in a booth, or from a yellow ticket machine. A 26-crown ticket is valid for 75 minutes (90 minutes after 8 pm and all day on Saturday and Sunday) for the whole Prague public transport network. On the buses from the airport, you can also buy a ticket from the driver, but for 30 crowns. The buses stop at both terminals.
Bus 119 Get on to bus 119 and stamp your ticket in the yellow machine. After 22 minutes you will arrive at the terminal, Dejvicka metro station (Diplomat Hotel). Go down into the metro (green line). Take the train to Muzeum. Change lines (to the red line), and take the train for one stop in the Letnanyi direction, and get out at Hlavni nadrazi (Main Station).
Bus 100 This bus is less frequent than the 119, but if it comes along, take it. Get on, and stamp your ticket in the yellow machine. After 20 minutes, get out at the terminus, Zlicin metro station (yellow line). Go down into the metro, and take the train to Florenc. Change to the red line, and go one stop in the Haje direction. Get out at Hlavni nadrazi (Main Station).
Bus AE This is a special express service, running every 30 minutes. The ticket costs 45 crowns and is purchased from the driver. The bus goes direct from the airport to Hlavni Nadrazi (main station). Most fast trains to Pardubice leave from this station. (Bus AE previously went to Holesovice Station, which was less convenient - the new service is very convenient).
After arriving at Hlavni nadrazi
Buy a ticket to Pardubice. A single ticket, 2nd class, costs 133 crowns - 1st class 200 crowns. If you take a EuroCity train, denoted EC, or an InterCity train, denoted IC, you pay a supplement of 60 crowns. If you take a Pendelino special SuperCity train, denoted SC, you pay 500 crowns. If you buy a return ticket, valid for 2 days, you pay less than two single fares.

Railway timetable
The railway timetable is available on www.vlak.cz.
Fast trains run between Prague and Pardubice at intervals of an hour or less. The journey takes about one hour. There are three stations from which trains leave Prague for Pardubice. Most fast trains leave from Main station, Hlavni Nadrazi, indicated in the timetable by Praha Hl. N. Some international trains from Berlin and Dresden to Vienna and beyond leave from Prague Holosevice station (Praha Hol.). All of these trains make a stop at Pardubice. Slow trains leave from Prague Masaykovo Nadrazi (Praha Mas.). Trains from or to Praha Mas. are best avoided. Praha Hl. N. and Praha Hol. are connected by the red metro line, and the journey time is only 6 minutes, so do not worry if you arrive at the wrong station.
By road from Prague
You can hire a car at Prague Ruzyne airport, as you can at any major airport. You can also get a taxi. However, if you are going by taxi to Pardubice we do not recommend a Prague airport taxi, unless you are able to beat them down to about 2000 crowns. A Pardubice taxi company should offer to take you for about 2000 crowns.
Taxi Simona (Pardubice) 800 600 636
Prague-based AAA Taxis, which have offices at the airport, are metered, and this is a fairly reputable company.
The motorway east from Prague now passes about 15 km north of Pardubice. To get on to this motorway, follow the signs for Hradec Kralove. From the airport, avoid the centre of town by taking the southern orbital road. This road runs along the side of the airport. Just keep following the signs to Hradec Kralove. About 90 km east of Prague, you will get signs to Pardubice. Before you come into the centre of Pardubice, you reach Semtin, where there is a dual carriageway off to the right. Follow the signs to Letiste (airport), Paramo, Zavodiste (racecourse) or Chrudim. If you do not hit any traffic, or lose your way, the journey from Prague airport will take 75 minutes. Except on Velka Pardubicka day, there is adequate parking at the course. On Velka Pardubicka day, cars are parked at Pardubice airport, which is adjacent to the racecourse.
From Pardubice town centre and railway station
As the train from Prague approaches Pardubice station, it passes the Paramo petroleum refinery. The racecourse is on the far side of this refinery, not at all far from the station. The taxi fare should not be more than 120 crowns. The bus fare is 12 crowns. Buy two tickets (one for the return journey!) at a booth or ticket machine, e.g., in the railway station concourse. Bus No 8 stops at u Grande (next to the OldTown), the Labe Hotel and the Railway Station on the way to the racecourse, which is the third stop after the railway station. Bus No. 15 also goes to the racecourse. On Velka Pardubicka day there is a shuttle service to the racecourse. When you get on to the bus, stamp your ticket to validate it.
If you arrive from some other direction
Pardubice has a major railway station, with frequent trains arriving from Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Austria. If you arrive by road from the south (Chrudim) or south west (Prelouc), you will pass the racecourse as you enter the town. From other directions, find you way on to ring road system and follow signs to Letiste (airport), Paramo, Zavodiste (racecourse) or Chrudim.
Arriving by plane at Pardubice airport
Pardubice airport is adjacent to the racecourse. Charter flights, private jets, etc. can land here. Currently there are regular direct flights to Pardubice aiport from Moscow, St Petersburg, Hurghada and Antalya.
